Café Berlin and Restaurant

The Café Berlin and Restaurant, with its attractive decor and cosy atmosphere, has a wonderful view of the glittering Marina in Hurghada. Serving a good selection of well cooked, tasty meals, salads and snacks, the café offers excellent value for money.

The bar, with its pleasant background music and comfortable chairs, is a good place to sit and watch the activity in the harbour or just watch people passing by. They serve delicious coffee as well as the normal range of alcoholic drinks, but it’s their great, inventive cocktails that most people come here for. All drinks are served with salted popcorn, the perfect snack to accompany your favourite drink, while you sit back and unwind in this peaceful eatery.

The staff are very friendly and attentive, most speak English and enjoy a bit of banter with the customers, adding to the laid-back atmosphere of this charming café. So, sit back and enjoy the views with a refreshing beverage.

Grill & Chill Restaurant

The Grill and Chill, located on Marina Boulevard overlooking the harbour, offers its customers a barbeque-style eating experience. The charcoal grill used for cooking the meals is actually outside, so you can watch the chef preparing the steak, burger, fish or whatever else you have ordered right in front of you. The rib-eye steak served with a peppercorn sauce, the camel steak and the sea bass are wonderful when cooked this way, as are the thick and juicy camel burgers. Other meals include chicken breasts, chicken curry, seafood pasta plus an assortment of pizzas, salads and soups.

The portion sizes are extremely generous and if you are unable to eat everything, the staff are happy to wrap the rest up for you to take home – nothing is too much trouble. Children are also well catered for at this friendly restaurant which has a kid’s menu, or they can have smaller portions of the main meals, if they prefer. Ice cream for dessert is always a favourite with kids and quite often the adults as well. As if all that isn’t enough – the cocktails are 2 for 1.

Makai Tukai Restaurant

Located in the Iberotel Makadi Saraya Resort, the Makai Tukai Restaurant serves a variety of Asian cuisine including Japanese, Thai and Chinese dishes. This beautifully decorated restaurant, with its low lighting and intimate design, provides a calming romantic atmosphere – perfect for couples. Starters include the house special – hot and sour soup with a wonton (Chinese Dumpling) sushi and spring rolls with various fillings.

For your main meal, you can choose from spicy chicken with cashew nuts, beef stir fry, chicken curry with noodles and gambas, sweet and sour chicken, crispy shrimps with rice and vegetables, teppanyaki and a seafood platter with oyster sauce. If you have room for dessert, then the fried banana with honey and vanilla ice cream is an absolute must. The chefs even visit your table to check your meal is satisfactory and the waiter service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive.

The restaurant has two dinner sittings, which is ideal if you have small children and want to eat quite early. All meals are served with jugs of water and soft drinks and there is also a great selection of alcoholic beverages to choose from. Excellent food and service – what more could you ask for?

Moby Dick

Moby Dick Restaurant is situated in Sheraton Street and specialises in fresh seafood dishes, but also has an international menu to cater for all tastes. On arrival at this charming restaurant, you will be welcomed with a complimentary basket of garlic bread to eat while you decide what you want to order.

As with many restaurants in Hurghada, camel steaks are on the menu, served with French fries, fresh seasonal vegetables and a mushroom sauce. Camel burgers are also available and are served with fries, but accompanied by a delicious salad instead of vegetables. For those who don’t fancy camel, you could try the seafood special of the day, tuna steak, garlic chicken, an awesome Greek salad, chicken curry with rice and vegetables or fillet of beef with fries and vegetables, all of which are beautifully cooked and presented. There is a good selection of desserts, but the carrot cake seems to be most people’s favourite.

The staff are very attentive; an especially nice touch is the complimentary goodbye shot of Sambuca or Ouzo after your meal.

Mr. Greek Bar & Restaurant

Mr Greek Bar & Restaurant is located in the heart of Marina Boulevard and has a perfect view of the Red Sea’s turquoise waters. Serving both Greek and international dishes, it also offers a delicious “Catch of the Day.” There is a wide choice of starters available, with the grilled halloumi being a particular favourite amongst visitors. The camel steaks are cooked to perfection and offer a tasty alternative to the equally delicious beef steaks, while the Greek style lemon chicken is to die for and the seafood tagine is out of this world.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very cosy and relaxed and the bar serves the usual wines, beers and spirits, but also mixes fantastic cocktails. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the service is excellent. This is a great place for friends and families to meet for a meal and a few drinks, especially in the evening as the sun sets over the magnificent view of the sea.

Nino’s Restaurant

The charming and beautifully decorated Nino’s Italian restaurant, at the Jaz Aquamarine Resort, serves beautifully cooked meals in a relaxing, atmospheric dining room and on a romantic candlelit terrace.

The menu includes a number of classic Italian starters, mains and desserts, as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. The home-made soup and the bruschetta and carpaccio are absolutely delicious starters, while the choice of main meals is huge and includes dishes such as mushroom risotto, steak, beef or vegetable lasagne, spaghetti bolognese, surf and turf, sea bass and a choice of pizzas. However, it is the mouth-watering desserts that make Nino’s so special. The Torte de Italiano is amazing, as is the cappuccino cream chocolate cake – you really must try them. Once you have eaten, why not round off your meal with a delightfully rich, strong, Italian coffee or perhaps a liquor?

Retro Bar & Pub

The Retro Bar & Pub in Old Sheraton Road is popular with visitors to Hurghada, especially the British. It is primarily a sports bar with a multitude of screens, each showing a different match or sport. Its menu ranges from Italian pizzas and pasta to American-style burgers and beautifully fresh summer salads, for the healthier dinners. Monday is steak night and if you like your red meat, then you really should pay the bar a visit, as they serve a range of large, beautifully cooked, delicious steaks, served with fries and either vegetables or salad – fantastic.

The Retro has an excellent choice of local beers and other regional alcoholic drinks, as well as a great selection of cocktails. Non-alcoholic hot and cold drinks are also available, giving plenty of options to kids and those who simply want to enjoy the night sober. The service is excellent; the owner and his staff are very welcoming and friendly, as is their beautiful Labrador – Sultan.

Sofra

The Sofra is an oriental, a la carte restaurant located in the Jaz Makadi Saraya resort. Used by guests staying in the hotel as part of its all-inclusive deal, it is also open to other diners. This lovely restaurant offers a selection of starters including lentil soup with homemade bread, salads, hummus, filled pastries and a delicious hot and cold meze with garlic and yoghurt dips. The choice of main meals is huge and includes dishes such as a mixed grill served with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables, or shawarma and shish tawook (chicken skewers). The food is very well presented and the portions are huge.

For dessert, you can have the famous Om Ali, which is absolutely scrumptious, or if you prefer, they serve a fantastic fruit platter. There is also a small selection of special meals for children. The service at this cosy restaurant is excellent; nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff who do everything they can to make your dining experience enjoyable.

The Bartender Bar

When visiting the Abu Tig Marina in Hurghada, it’s impossible to miss the Bartender Bar with its large bright fluorescent sign and unique décor. Opening in 2015, this amazing bar has grown in popularity, year after year. The unique design of the bar, with tables made out of barrels and tractor tyres, leather sofas, antique record players and other memorabilia, including posters of Jim Morrison (the famous American singer, songwriter and poet) on the walls, as well as a brilliant red Mercedes, which has been cut in half and converted to a fantastic seating area, all add to the appeal of this unique bar.

If that’s not reason enough to visit The Bartender, the show put on by the resident mixologists juggling bottles and shakers in the air as they create the cocktail of your choice, definitely is. The nightly live music includes jazz, hip-hop, R’n’B and house, keeping customers entertained well into the night and there is also a billiards table and a large screen TV to enjoy. You will definitely be able to keep yourself entertained on a trip over to The Bartender.

The Lodge Restaurant

Located in the heart of Hurghada’s Marina Boulevard, the Lodge Restaurant and Bar has a wonderful view of the harbour and its many luxury yachts. This tasty restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating areas, both of which are very comfortable with a perfect, relaxed atmosphere. Although specialising in various cuts of steak such as T-bone, tomahawk, rib-eye, fillet and of course camel, all cooked on a charcoal grill, The Lodge also has an extensive selection of vegetarian and fish courses. Why not try the mixed seafood – prawns, squid, fish, calamari and muscles (all of which are served in a pineapple), or the Caribbean pineapple chilli salad?

All meals are beautifully cooked and presented and are definitely great value for money. The waiters are friendly and attentive, the service is quick and very efficient and you never have to wait to be served. For music lovers, The Lodge has acoustic live performances by local artists as well as blues and salsa nights. All in all, The Lodge is a great place for a meal, a few drinks and some fabulous music.

The White Elephant Restaurant

Located in the new Hurghada Marina, the White Elephant Restaurant serves marvellous, authentic Thai food, prepared and cooked by a Thai chef. In particular, the choice of curries is amazing and you can choose exactly how hot you want it to be, but be warned – hot means extremely hot. As well as spicy stir-fries and other classic dishes, which combine the hot, sour, sweet and salty flavours of Thai cuisine, this restaurant also serves a variety of vegetarian dishes.

The staff at this atmospheric restaurant, with its comfortable and relaxing décor, are friendly and welcoming, providing excellent service. The restaurant has seating both inside and outside, with amazing views over the glittering marina, making it an ideal spot to meet up with friends and family, have a delicious meal and even a couple of drinks.

The name “White Elephant” comes from an old legend, which says if you see a white elephant you will be blessed with good luck – perhaps another reason to give this fabulous Thai eatery a try.
